REACH the new chemical EU reform

What about the safety data sheet?

The REACH legislation does not cancel the demand on preparation of safety data sheets.

What then?

Who – the short answer is ‘everybody'! – I.e. manufacturers, importers and users of chemical substances and products will be involved.

When - REACH was adopted in December 2006 in the EU Parliament and came into force on 1 June 2007.
 
What can/do I have to do – time is pressing and preparations have to start now:

• A mapping need for the chemicals forming part of the products today exists
• Projects on substitution of the most problematic chemicals have to be started
• Choice of suppliers to ensure delivery of the 'vital' chemicals have to be made
• Close dialogues with the suppliers chosen have to be initiated in order to ensure that exactly your applications of the chemicals in question also will be possible in the future.

In brief, it is now that the "tidying up" and the REACH preparations have to be started/carried through!

REACH and alterations in safety data sheets

With the adoption of REACH some changes must be made in the safety data sheet. Please notice that these changes had to be made when the regulation came into force on 1 June 2007.
