News about SIEF groups

The Danish Environmental Protection Agency has once more had a dialogue meeting about the European chemicals regulation REACH. The general impression was that more companies had pre-registered substances than expected and that there is a large difference in how SIEF work proceeds.

Participation in SIEF groups

In many SIEF groups only 10-15% have stated to which extent they wish to participate in the SIEF work. At the same time views were expressed for ECHA to take a larger moral responsibility in connection with describing how the SIEF work is to proceed.

At present it seems as if the already established SIEF groups based on a consortium concept are those which work at best as all legal agreements are in place.
